A new beginning at the House of Light Family Care Home

A new beginning at the House of Light Family Care Home

In the 17 April 2024 issue of 'Nők Lapja' magazine, a sensitive and touching article was published, which gives an insight into the everyday life of the House of Light Family Care Home.

Entitled "Stories from the Home of the Brokenhearted", it sheds light on the lives of women who have come to us to escape the dark shadows of domestic violence.
The article highlights the sad statistic that in Hungary, one woman dies every week as a result of relationship violence. It is often in this difficult situation that they turn to us for help, and for them the Salvation Army House of Light offers safety and a new beginning. For those who are most in need. Our institution is not just a shelter, but a real, lasting solution to help them rebuild their lives.
The stories of Ági and Erika, which are also presented in the article, are exemplary. They both escaped violent relationships and received help from the Salvation Army's House of Light. Ági's story is about how she and her child escaped abuse and found new hope and strength within the walls of our institution. And Erika's story shows the difficulties she went through as a single mother before finding safety with us.
These stories prove that the Salvation Army is not just a temporary shelter, but is actively working to improve the quality of life of those in need, whether it is spiritual support, reintegration into society or even finding new career opportunities.
Thank you to the staff of 'Nők Lapja' for drawing attention to our mission and to the women who inspire us every day with their courage and determination. We remain committed to providing help and hope to all those in need.
