An insight into a past Christmas

An insight into a past Christmas

"It was as if a big family was preparing for the celebration together..." We would like to present the moments of our last Advent anticipation and the touching moments of Christmas Eve.

Most people have no idea how families without their own homes can spend the holidays, so we are now offering a glimpse into a past Christmas at a mother's home. Our goal is to show our readers how eagerly the residents of Fény Háza prepare for this beautiful holiday every year. Please accept our warm summary of last year!

The biggest celebration at Fény Háza Mother's Home is the birth of Baby Jesus. At this time, we not only dress our souls for the celebration of love but also make the entire institution intimate together with the families, as we await Christmas Eve.

The children and mothers began preparations in November, creating beautiful decorations with their own hands. They chose the snowflake as the main motif, drawing, cutting, and gluing diligently for weeks to have the beautiful ornaments ready when the time comes. Finally, December 1st arrived, eagerly awaited by everyone, as it marks the beginning of the Christmas countdown and the advent calendar drawing. After the evening storytime, the children could draw a small surprise treat.

On December 6th, Santa Claus visited us! The children had been eagerly learning poems and songs for weeks to greet Santa Claus with a beautiful performance. One little girl even learned an acrobatic dance, which was a great success! Of course, the reward was not lacking; Santa Claus generously rewarded the children with wonderful Santa packages for their wonderful performance!

We received our institutional Christmas tree from a generous donor, which the mothers decorated during the day so that when the children returned from school, they would be greeted by an even bigger surprise.

On December 19th, we held our institutional Christmas celebration, which was honored by the presence of the leaders of The Salvation Army, Michael and Christine Staiesse, who joyfully joined us. The indispensable part of the celebration was the Christmas program and the dinner shared together. The families prepared for the performance with great love, and it was the first time that every mother and child appeared in the program. Looking back, the execution of this was not easy, but the end result was a perfect and touching performance.

After the Christmas program came the shared festive dinner, which the mothers and the institution's staff prepared together; this year's main dish was stuffed cabbage. The desserts were baked by the mothers, including coconut cubes, cream puffs, savory sticks, and, of course, the indispensable poppy seed and walnut rolls. The shared cooking was very touching; it was as if a big family was preparing for the celebration together. After the shared dinner, every family went to their room, and from then on, the children - regardless of age - eagerly awaited what gifts they would receive from the angels.

It is touching to reminisce about the many beautiful memories that happen at Fény Háza during Christmas, to experience and share every moment together.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
